FUT is also called the strip technique, which consists of extracting a horizontal strip from the donor area (Hippocratic crown) of 10 to 30 cm then cutting it carefully into follicular units under the microscope to avoid any waste as much as possible and implanting them on the thinning areas.

FUE is currently the most widely used technique, which consists of extracting each follicular unit individually from the donor area using a tool called a micro-punch and placing them in a preservation solution. This process is repeated until the medical practitioner harvests enough follicular units to implant them on the thinning areas of the beard.
DHI is currently the most recent technique, called the pen technique which consists of creating channels and doing the direct and immediate implantation using a special pen (Choi Implanter). It allows the surgeon to control the depth, angle, and direction of implantation step by step, which grafts will be implanted one by one on the thinning of the beard.
